Runaway as fast as you can...
Last week was New York Fashion Week and I had the pleasure of attending the Sachika Twins Fall/Winter 2011 show -- The Awakening of a Swan, which was inspired by the movie Black Swan & Kanye West's mini movie Runaway. The Sachika Twins -- To-Tam & To-Nya Sachika are high-end designers based in NYC. These young Vietnamese entrepreneurs moved to New York from Montreal, Quebec a few years ago to achieve the "ultimate american dream." Last year during fashion week their Spring 2011 collection was revealed and was a huge success, and they definitely left their mark on the fashion scene by having celebrities like CoCo, Angela & Vanessa Simmons, Dawn Richards, and others walk in their show.
This year the show was AMAZING and showcased their growth as designers. I loved the mixture of prints, textures, and fabrics to achieve a cohesive collection. The influence from Black Swan & Runaway is apparent and vivid. The colorful sequins and feather accents really brought the collection together.
Can we talk about the finale dress *gags*
Aubrey O'Day, David Banner, Jennifer Williams, June Ambrose, Karina Pasian, Adrienne Bailon, and a host of NYC's finest socialites & fashionistas were in attendace to show their support of the Sachika Twins.
Kat DeLuna also performed her new single "Dancing Tonight."
I also had the pleasure of getting backstage access. I got to witness all the madness that takes place before a major fashion show.
Last but not least....
